At Visual PR Productions, creativity and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. Chris Dawes, motorsport commentator and founder of Visual PR Productions, recently shared the exciting news that our company has been shortlisted for two awards by The Business Exchange – “Best Creative Campaign” and “Best User Experience.” In a recent team discussion, Chris was joined by our lead video editor, Tom Cottam, and newest team member, Ethan Watt, to reflect on what this recognition means for the business, the team’s journey so far, and our ambitions for the future.
Here are three key points from that discussion.
Since its inception, Visual PR Productions has steadily grown into a close-knit, highly motivated team. With Tom Cottam leading the video editing and post-production efforts, and the recent arrival of Ethan Watt bringing fresh energy and creativity, the company is scaling its capabilities.
Tom reflected on the evolution of the business, especially the positive impact of establishing our own studio space, which has allowed for broader creative outputs and higher production standards. He also praised Ethan's early contributions, particularly their collaboration on a recent project praised by clients. This multi-phased video editing project highlighted the team's passion for storytelling and commitment to delivering quality, even on tight deadlines.
For Ethan, the experience of working on impactful campaigns so early in his career has been a significant confidence boost. His creative input has already made a difference, and it is clear that the business fosters an environment where everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas and share responsibility.
One of the awards Visual PR Productions is shortlisted for celebrates creativity, and one standout project cited was the work done with the National Self Build and Renovation Centre. The campaign included pre-event shows and full-scale event broadcasting, both live and “as-live”, depending on the technical constraints of the venue.
By assessing and adapting based on learnings from earlier efforts, the team enhanced the campaign's impact on its second run. Their flexible approach demonstrated a commitment to both client satisfaction and continuous improvement, a key theme in the team's operations.
Another campaign singled out for praise was the series created for Ten Hides Distillery. Rather than producing a traditional promotional video, the team focused on storytelling. They sought to capture the passion behind the product, making the viewer feel a connection with the brand and encouraging them to experience the distillery for themselves. As Chris pointed out, this is exactly what Visual PR stands for – visual public relations that focuses on human connection rather than direct selling.
The second award for which Visual PR Productions has been shortlisted – “Best User Experience” – is a testament to the behind-the-scenes work to simplify the client journey. Recognising that clients often struggle with unused content or unclear next steps, the team created a system designed to remove friction and boost value.
Working closely with technical collaborator Liam Barry at Hidden Genius, the team introduced a suite of automations that streamline the post-production and publishing process. From a single conversation or recording, clients can now receive a comprehensive package including long-form video, short clips, audio podcast, blog posts, newsletters, and social media content – all taken care of by Visual PR’s automation. As Chris noted, overcoming client apathy by making their lives easier was a targeted objective, not a happy accident.
This commitment to client service is supported by the ongoing work of Ellie Cheeseman, the team’s virtual assistant, who ensures that operations run smoothly and projects stay on track.
The recognition from The Business Exchange is a proud moment for everyone at Visual PR Productions. It reflects the growth of a talented team, a focus on meaningful storytelling, and a relentless drive to make clients’ lives easier through innovation and collaboration. Whether working on creative campaigns or streamlining the user experience, everything the team does has impact, heart and craft behind it.
As the team await the results of the final awards in November, there's a sense of momentum and an eye firmly on the future. Being shortlisted alongside such strong competition is an honour in itself – and for Chris, often the one calling others up to the stage, now being on the other side feels “humbling and privileged”.
